Visual Forester in the Classroom
Keeping an Eye on the Future of California Forests
What is Visual Forester in the Classroom (VFIC)?
Visual Forester is an exciting new PC application designed to educate about forestry, stimulate positive discussion and promote a greater understanding of our diverse natural resources, as well as those who manage them.
The purpose of this program is to teach about forest management and how California Law provides for a sustainable forest, both now and in the future. Step into the shoes of today's professional forester. Make some of the same decisions that they deal with on a daily basis. Manage the forest to promote forest health, produce wood products, protect wildlife and leave behind a forest that was better off than when you found it. Do all this using some of the same state-of-the-art tools that today's 21st century forester uses including:
Alpine Land Information Services Inc. specializes in Site-Specific Long-Term Forest Planning, focusing on the development of expert-based decision support applications designed to increase the efficiency and confidence of the decision-making process. We provide a full range of forest planning services along with our current line of custom-built forestry applications.
All of these different tools and more are available to you in one package that we call Visual Forester in the Classroom. This is your forest. How will you manage it?

Praise for Visual Forester
"The Visual Forester in the Classroom is without question the most remarkable simulator of integrated forest management I have ever seen. It should be used by anybody who is at all interested in being introduced to the diverse social, managerial, and ecological interactions involved in forestry. It's not only visually fascinating and technically accurate, but fun."
