Connecting Policy Makers with California’s Forests
Purpose
Our mission is to ensure that legislators and other policy makers gain a comprehensive understanding of California’s forests and the vital role forest managers play in their conservation protection and sustainability. We recognize that policy decisions are often made without the benefit of seeing the issues firsthand. Our forest tours bridge that gap, offering legislators a direct connection to the forest, where they can observe and learn about the complexities of forest management.
Tour Details
These tours, typically based in Northern California, can include either a single day or a 2-day, 1-night experience. They feature discussions led by Registered Professional Foresters, scientists, landowners, and other forestry professionals. Participants are exposed to the practical realities of forest management, including the successes and ongoing challenges related to wildlife, infrastructure, and environmental concerns.
Key Experiences
We aim for these tours to foster a strong appreciation for the beauty and significance of California’s forests while also providing policymakers with the knowledge needed to support sustained management.
